What is the difference between a charismatic leader and a regular manager?
Although there are differences from industry to industry, there are a number of general traits that strong and charismatic leaders possess, such as:
- strong in building and maintaining relationships,
- strongly motivated to continue developing,
- continuous improvement of performance,
- skilled in risk management.
They are constantly on the move, always exploring what can be improved. Winston Churchill once said: “To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.”
By applying NLP techniques in executive coaching, clients make great strides towards their desired goals. Not only big steps, but also fast steps.
Given the target audience I work with (leaders and entrepreneurs), speed is very important. They are not waiting for lengthy processes. Executive coaching NLP usually aligns very well with this.
What is NLP?
Where does it come from? And what are the benefits of combining executive coaching and NLP? NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. It’s about how we perceive the world around us and how we respond to it:
Neuro refers to the interaction between sensory perceptions (senses) and our neural system (central nervous system and the mind).
Linguistic refers to the language (verbal and non-verbal) we use to assign meaning to our thought patterns (our thoughts and our reality).
Programming refers to the ability to change our thinking and behavior patterns.
History of NLP
In the 1970s, NLP was started at the University of California (Santa Cruz) by John Grinder and Richard Bandler. They studied many psychological streams and took the best from each. They did this with the belief: ‘If you can do something well, I can learn it from you. And then I can do it too, perhaps even faster than you learned it!’
This is also known as ‘modeling’.
NLP has evolved over the years and people like Robert Dilts, Tad James, and Anthony Robbins have also made significant contributions. I feel grateful to have been trained by all these NLP greats. I am now an NLP trainer and master practitioner of Time Line Therapy® and specialized in Neuro-associative conditioning.
